Alex finishes strong.
Alex Muller, who's playing Athens instead of Metz, is finishing the season at a much better level! Will he win this 'banger' of gros ratoss?
Well, I’ve got a bit of a gut feeling even before writing this analysis. Why? Because I’m thinking back to Etcheverry’s match against Carabelli in Paris. There are quite a few differences of course, like the speed of the conditions and Carabelli’s forehand. But in terms of match-up, I like players who can neutralize Etche’s serve/forehand and punish his backhand. It’s a pattern that came up time and again in Paris against Carabelli. That said, Alex doesn’t have as good a forehand as Carabelli in my view, but the faster courts and balls flatter his game, whereas they hamper the Argentine’s. What’s more, Tomas Martin, who’s also coming off a big battle, doesn’t get a day off, and he looks less sharp than a few weeks ago. The trend is the opposite for Mumu, who’s also a nice underdog. My choice is clear!
