Double-fault record in sight?

Shapo and Collignon are known for their many double faults; if they’re not feeling it, this could really take off and start chasing records.

Successful qualifiers for Collignon, who beat Shevchenko and then Quinn; he’s confirming his new status and riding the momentum from the end of last season. Right now, you have to play at a high level to knock him out. That’s a level Shapo can only reach when both his game and his head are in sync, which is rare. We all know the on-fire Shapo who can hang with Sinner, and the other one who does anything and everything and loses to himself. Makes you wonder which version we’ll get. And his pre-season isn’t going in the right direction: he finished with a 6–1 loss to Nagal and apparently a neck issue. Same physical problems as always and the same recurring inconsistency, nothing great for the start of the year, even if with him you can expect anything. The conditions are really good for his game though: the ball flies well and it’s very fast. If he serves lights-out and feels the ball well from the baseline, then he’s one of the potential dark horses! But for that he’ll have to get past the Collignon obstacle, and I quite like the Belgian in a match-up like this; he’s going to fight hard and mentally he seems a bit stronger to me. With wins already in his legs and momentum on his side, I hope his odds will be interesting.
