Watt are we dealing with here?
Brooksby back in action!
I'm sure Brooksby will be pleased with his 2025 (comeback) season. A crazy run in Houston to the title. Final as a lucky loser in Eastbourne. Semifinal in Tokyo. Now it's time to get the season started here in Auckland, where the conditions should be rather good for Jenson. It tends to be quite windy here, and Brooksby is an excellent "wind-player"... his game is already built around disruption, so it does not bother him (his run in Eastbourne was in very windy conditions as an example). Yes, he actually made the semifinal here in Auckland in 2023. Well, enough about Brooksby... what about his opponent? James Watt. I'll be perfectly honest here, I have not yet had the pleasure of watching him, ranked 705 in the world. 206cm and 103kg, so probably not a Counter Puncher we are dealing with here ;) New Zealand's Opelka? Mainly playing in lower-mid level Challengers and ITFs. With a big serve, playing at home, and this being Brooksby's first match of the year... could he hold his own, for a bit? Brooksby has an OK record when he is a huge favorite... he always tends to play seriously with effort, but his game is not powerful, so opponents who can handle the variety and disruption decently can hang with him somewhat, despite not being at the same level...
