Second tournament of the year and second Muller/Giron, if Mumu loses again he's going to have nightmares..

The draw hasn’t been kind to Muller, who’s facing his Hong Kong executioner again. I find the conditions pretty similar, with a comparable speed and a bounce that’s not far off either. I didn’t see their match in HK but the highlights suggest that Giron was well on top, very aggressive and proactive so as not to let Muller settle into his comfort zone. The Frenchman will be expecting that and I hope he has a plan to change the matchup; the score wasn’t one-sided either, so there’s some hope. Giron is arriving later into this new tournament as well, whereas Muller already has several practice sessions in his legs in Auckland and might start better? The wind is often a factor in this tournament too, another element to manage. I think both players are smart enough and able to adapt, with maybe a slight edge for Muller? Rematches are always special, by the way; playing again so soon weirdly tends to favor the one who lost first, since he can change things and adjust. That said, the level of play matters too, and Giron is rediscovering his tennis at the start of this season; he’s really annoying to play when he’s feeling good. We should see another tight match with chances for Muller like in Hong Kong, but over the long run I still trust Giron more... Let’s look at the odds, because if the American drops to 1.60 this time, I don’t think there’s any value left.
