Big potential that's going to flop?

On paper I really like this match, but I'm afraid it’ll be tight and boring.

A bit disappointed with Medjedovic’s match yesterday, the level of play was poor on both sides and we saw two extremely strong servers on serve, to the point that it had to be decided in the final tie-break. A bit less excited by Medjedovic than during the qualifiers, but that’s just how he is: there are days when he’s not at his best and you can see it pretty clearly in his body language/his motivation to move. On the other hand, he beat a still very good Kovacevic yesterday and that’s a good win before stepping things up, no? Against Mensik he’ll have to find solutions to make an impact on return; the Czech can quickly turn into a kind of servebot when his serve is dialed in, BUT he also gives points away with double faults, everything depends on how he’s feeling. I have to say that for months now he doesn’t scare me as much as he used to with what he’s showing; he looks like he’s having a serious comedown and can’t really get out of it, probably because he’s young and consistency at the highest level comes with time. In any case he’s got a hell of a first round to play. Second meeting, last time was in 2023 at a Challenger and it was Mensik who won 7–6 in the third set. This match is heading in the same direction, they’re deadly on serve and should cancel each other out, no? In this kind of situation I still give more credit to the player coming from qualifying, who already has three matches in his legs...
