A quarter-final to follow up after the semi in Auckland?
It sure looks like that’s the path that’s been taken...
… by the American prodigy. She’s making her way by stringing together wins. A 6-0 6-1 victory over Tjen yesterday, with crazy stats. It’s simple: Tjen only managed to win three points in a single game. Impressive, especially because at no point did she slow down her game despite the total domination.
Zarazúa has improved on hard courts in 2025 and has nicely earned this status as an “annoying” player to face. Not necessarily very powerful shots, but a complete return game that often forces her opponent into errors. Big match against Baptiste yesterday where, after a first set that was pretty weak overall, she clearly got into her head and controlled the second and third sets.
The H2H is balanced but misleading: Zarazúa beat Jovic at the very beginning of the young American’s career. The difference in level today has become the size of a viaduct.
