But who's going to stop him/her?
Not sure Emma can handle it!
Emma is a highly defensive, very mobile player who loves rallies and more often forces her opponent into making errors than finishing points herself. Firmly anchored on the baseline, in her comfort zone, Emma has this ability to read her opponents well and adapt. She quickly exploits neutral balls and turns them into winners. But if there’s one thing she really doesn’t like, it’s big hitters. I’m talking about players like Keys, Rybakina or Anisimova.
And that’s exactly the problem here: we’ve got a lefty who fires missiles on both forehand and backhand, making the ball really heavy. From what I’ve seen, Diana seems extremely confident in her game and consistently serves around 150/160 km/h on average. Emma has never really had the type of tennis needed to counter this kind of profile, and the 2026 version of her is still not convincing.
Two very easy opening matches for Navarro, but this will be her first real test of the 2026 season. Another interesting stat: in quarterfinals, the Russian has won 11 of the 15 she has played, whereas Emma has lost more than half of hers. The H2H is in favor of the Russian, always in three sets, but this is their first meeting on hard court.
