Carlito for his first AO?
Well, we'll take it one game at a time anyway lol!
You surely didn’t miss it: Carlito and Ferrero, it’s over. Not exactly the best thing, splitting with a coach like that and a relationship like that. Especially considering the Spaniard’s psychological profile, since he’s someone who needs stability. We’ll see what happens, but it’s not out of the question that he calls him back during the season. In the meantime, he hired a second coach who was already working with Ferrero, so he won’t be on his own. Aside from that, this match against Walton is a good sign for the Spaniard. Walton is really not in his best form, despite a slightly better last set against Quentin Halys in his last tournament. On paper, the Australian’s profile could bother Carlito with the big server/aggressor style, but he doesn’t have the required level within that profile. So he’ll probably get countered and passed, but he won’t have any choice other than to play the aggressive card. Unless he manages to put Carlito in that famous situation where he overdoes it because he has too many options. There are also times when Carlito just doesn’t feel anything. The most recent example: against Norrie in Paris. But that’s happened twice in 2025... So I’m leaning towards a 3–0 with one set at 7–5 or 7–6, and for me, there’s not much to do with this match.
