Once In a Blue Moon?

Could Bellucci have one of his rare good performances here?

If you've watched a decent amount of Bellucci's matches, you know just how frustrating he can be to watch. He could be such a fun player to watch with his flair and athleticism - sadly, it's usually overshadowed by loads of unforced errors and a rather immature attitude to go along with it. In the off-season, he spoke about how much he had learned in 2025 and the goals he had set for himself. Then, I watched his first match against Carreno-Busta, and he was already having a mental breakdown one set into the match... what a start! He has not achieved anything since then, simply beating Blancaneaux before getting destroyed by Medjedovic. Not a great start to his 2026. As for Ruud, he had a great opening match against ADM before struggling in the matchup against Mensik. A quick 6-4, 6-4 loss to Marozsan in Auckland a few days ago. And yes, also a tiebreak with Federer ;)

This is a matchup that could present some problems for Ruud. Bellucci does not provide any rhythm whatsoever (which Ruud loves, making it easier for him to dictate). How could he do that when he barely knows what he is doing himself? He has a pretty good serve (more so variety than pure speed), and being a lefty is not a bad thing against Ruud, even if his struggles against lefties are sometimes being a bit exaggerated. Mattia is also someone whom I trust a lot more in big matches, where he can get pumped from the crowd. Well, those were some good parts. It could end up being a complete error-fest against a steady opponent as well, but surely, with his poor form, there could be a good price on his side for us to side with him here?
