Welcome back, Elias Ymer...

We haven't seen a lot of the younger Ymer brother in recent years! According to himself, there was a major event that acted as a catalyst for his major improvement in the latter half of 2025. A friend of his recommended that he start listening to Bible verses, and it seems to have paid off so far! We saw glimpses of a good Elias in Stockholm as well. Now, he is here... in the main draw, after a good qualification run in conditions that suit him (including the atmosphere). Shevchenko is coming from a great run in Adelaide from the qualies to the QF, where he got absolutely demolished by Humbert. Still, four good matches from him, we know he is someone who relies on confidence and tends to be quite streaky - surely this should give him a big boost here.

So, two players who have found some form. Shevchenko does have the higher ceiling, but this has the potential to be a tricky matchup for him. While Ymer's level tends to be quite inconsistent, he has a decent level when he is "locked in"... decent at holding his own serve and not a bad mover. Elias will struggle if Shevchenko can consistently dictate with controlled aggression, but he is not the player whom we can rely on to do this consistently throughout a match. While Ymer has struggled to win his first rounds in Grand Slam main draws, could he at least put up a big fight here? Perhaps with the help of the crowd (and a higher force)...
