The Polish queen in trouble?
This first round should be simple though
The queen of the Eastern countries is getting her season underway. There’s a lot of noise around her condition in 2026. Poland won the United Cup, but Iga’s performances won’t go down in history, with two losses in singles against Gauff and Bencic, with some pretty harsh scorelines, even including a 6–0. There was a time when it was Iga dishing out bagels left and right. In short, a queen who’s not at her prime, and we know she only likes to perform in a totally controlled environment. Doubt creeps in fast when you preach perfection 24/7.
Danielle Collins, a.k.a. Danimal, even said on Tennis Channel that the Pole wouldn’t make it past the second round. We also know about the deep love these two players have for each other :) Looking at the draw, I don’t think she’ll go out in the second round, but the third is likely to be very tough.
Out of 26 Grand Slams played, she’s only lost once in the first round. Unfortunately, Yue Yuan won’t have much to challenge her with. The Chinese player is mainly fighting to stay in the top 100. She’s still someone with a metronomic serve, almost no double faults, but I don’t see in which area of the game she could really trouble her opponent.
