The good Cerundolo!

Very convincing first-round match from Cerúndolo, totally under control against Zhang. We were expecting a much tighter encounter, but the Argentinian managed to impose his rhythm from start to finish, notably thanks to an extremely effective forehand.

For his part, Džumhur took advantage of a Draxl who was very limited physically after the first set. That opening set was actually a real battle, won by the Bosnian thanks to a more varied game. What followed turned into a parody of a match, which makes the analysis quite tricky. Džumhur had already left me with a mixed impression in the first two tournaments of the season; it was a bit better here, but against a weaker opponent, so it’s hard to draw any real conclusions. I therefore remain quite skeptical about his current level.

As you’ve probably gathered between the lines, I don’t really see any surprise in this matchup. Sure, Džumhur may have a few weapons to try to “throw Cerúndolo off,” but the Argentinian seems to be in a very good place right now.

I picture a match where the pace, power, and intensity will quickly become too much for the Bosnian.
