She seems unstoppable
The Polish woman is striking them down one after another!
Magda is amazing. She’s climbed back up to Polish number 2, and it’s thoroughly deserved. She’s showing very good physical form, which hasn’t always been the case in 2025, and now at 33 she’s knocking on the door of the top 40 (19th all time). A profile that just gets better with age, a reallate bloomeras they say. Her experience is enormous and shows in an exceptional reading of the game.
Highly adaptable, with an XXL baseline defensive wall, you often see her two meters behind the line and yet still able to win points in a very aggressive way. The conditions here are ideal for her. In underdog mode, she’s always very dangerous. I haven’t forgotten her semifinal here in 2023. Sabalenka’s former coach is doing a really good job guiding her, in my opinion.
She played a completely tactical match against the defensive queen Navarro, knowing how to learn from the first set to adjust and logically turn the match around. The longer the match went on, the more Linette drew errors out of Emma, very smart. What Linette doesn’t like are the big hitters on serve, constantly coming at her with pace. Li is more in the mold of an aggressive baseliner as well, which promises a tight and very tactical match, but with much less Grand Slam experience.
Ann Li had to save three match points against Osorio and spent a huge amount of energy in a 2.5-hour battle against a powerful Colombian. The American’s game can be flaky at times, leaving lots of openings. A godsend for the Pole.
