Over 3.5 sets ?

This match smells like the over, with twists and turns and a crazy finish!

On paper that’s exactly what I thought instantly, except after thinking it over I’m wondering if that’s really what’s going to happen. Marozsan was so good against Rinderknech that I’m wondering if he isn’t capable of crushing Majchrzak as well; when the Hungarian is feeling the ball well, the match is on his racket. I’m expecting a sort of breakout this year, he’s still quite young and if he finds some consistency he’s absolutely capable of pushing for a top 30 spot given his qualities. The conditions are good for him: the bounce isn’t very high and it takes the pace well without being excessively fast, which gives him time. His start to the year is encouraging and he really looks like a big trap to walk into. His opponent today is Majchrzak; the Pole didn’t give me the same impression in the first round, I’d even say he got away with the win and can thank Fearnley for handing him an uncountable number of free points. I’m not going to trash Majchrzak either, he’s having a decent start to the year and moving up a level by his standards, he’s smart on court and able to hang in there by making his opponents play in annoying areas, he’s a bit of a trap too.

But given their respective first rounds and how I picture the match-up, it’s still Marozsan who wins on points in my opinion, his top level just seems so much higher. That said, there will be resistance on the other side of the net; a clean 3–0 win without giving anything away would once again be pretty surprising given his profile.
