Capable of anything!

I’m obviously talking about Basilashvili, who is hard to figure out, just like Nardi in the end!

With Basilashvili it's often all or nothing, he can still win a tournament by playing on fire for an entire week, so you always have to be wary of the Georgian. Given the way he started the season, though, it's hard to picture him performing well this week; he won only one match against the world no. 750 last week (and not even with a convincing score), and apart from that he’s racked up three straightforward defeats. Not exactly the kind of stuff that makes you think he’s about to pull out a monster tournament, but hey.

For Nardi it's kind of the opposite, the Italian is in good form, he hadn’t won a match before making that breakthrough at the Manama Challenger. It’s not really a surprise since he’d produced some good matches despite his losses in the first tournaments. With him too, you’ve got to catch him when he’s feeling good. Right now he really makes you want to back him, but his trip to Manama (Bahrain) could cost him a lot for this Montpellier tournament. Around a 9-hour flight back, basically no preparation for the conditions here, and an indoor surface to get used to… With a few days’ rest I probably would have backed him, but as it is, it’s tough.
