A chance to seize

Coming out of the qualifiers, Droguet has a really nice draw and needs to take advantage of it to get through this round

Getting Choinsky is almost a gift from heaven; the Brit is really not a player you can consider "dangerous." Normally he should also have been in qualies, that’s his level. As a reminder, he’s a British player with an unusual profile: despite being 1.96m tall, he spends most of his seasons on clay, he’s got a heavy topspin and he’s a grinder (can adapt). Historically, he’s already had some good results indoors (pretty logical given his height and serve), but it’s not what he prefers. Whenever he can play clay Challengers, he does, and actually this is only his second match of the year; he withdrew from the last two Challengers because of a shoulder injury. The level of this tournament will probably motivate him to play even without being 100%.

Droguet knows this is a big opportunity; he’s already beaten him on hard and lost once on clay, which makes sense. The Frenchman is having a good start to the season; he tends to be good in stretches during the year and right now he’s playing well! His second qualifying round was really solid against a solid baseliner / someone who likes to hit with topspin. There are a few similarities with what awaits him tomorrow, and for me, indoors he definitely keeps an edge over this type of player.
