Service battle?
18 and 25 aces in the last round for Griekspoor and Droguet; with serving stats that clean, it’s going to be tough to get a break on either side.
This is my blind spot in this match, let's say, because the rest seems pretty clear to me. I saw an excellent Griekspoor in his match today, the one who serves rockets and fires himself up, the guy who’s insanely hard to beat indoors. When he plays at that level and he’s motivated, he’s among the best indoor players in the world in my opinion. He’s better than Droguet on serve, his forehand is more stable, and simply his overall level of play is higher. That’s how it is for most of the year; now there are a few exceptions, like the fact that Droguet is playing better than usual and we’re pretty much in his backyard too. Those two factors kind of reshuffle the deck in my view, especially after his win against Kovacevic where he held on in the first part of the match before finishing stronger afterwards. He was untouchable on serve and supercharged by the stakes/the match with a reactive crowd, enough to make him a real serious outsider tomorrow.
He might spring a surprise or simply get shut down by how clean Griekspoor is on most of his service games. It’s the kind of match where everything can come down to a few key points; picking the right bet will be important, but in principle I obviously have Griekspoor as the favorite while still being cautious about the Droguet threat.
