Titouan on fire!

Titouan Droguet is having his best tournament yet, and it's not over!

It’s almost like an early final for him, he’s up against the title holder and on the other side it’s Mannarino/Damm, let’s say he got the “wrong” semi. But honestly he has reasons to believe, first his serve quality has been massive for a few matches now, I don’t know if he’s found the trigger but right now what he’s doing is just monstrous. He’s also overperforming in rallies, missing less and catching fire in some sequences, the guy is on heat! His win over Griekspoor confirms his big match against Kovacevic already, and now we’re stepping up another level with FAA, one of the best indoor players in the world.

The Canadian hasn’t really been tested yet this week, he shut down Wawrinka and Fils pretty much beat himself today (I’m exaggerating). No but seriously, he’s focused and disciplined, he’s coming to defend his title with motivation and he’s still the favorite to win it again. Is he capable of matching Droguet’s serving quality while offering a bit more reliability on the backhand side/in the clutch moments? Let’s say Droguet is currently overperforming while FAA is just playing at his normal level, but we’ve seen that a player on fire can keep that going for a while now, so who believes in it?

I remember last year it was Kovacevic who was on fire and when it came time to face Felix he cooled off a bit, maybe the Canadian is once again going to calm down the in-form player of the moment? In any case, I’m expecting another tight match, I’m taking a bet that goes in that direction.
