Taylor Fritz in the hot seat?
Not in great shape before the Australian Open and injured all over the place, the trend is to lay!!
Yes, especially since between him and Marcos Giron, it’s a long story. Ten matches played, eight wins for Fritz. But 3 matches played here in Dallas, and it’s 2–1 Fritz, all incredibly tight matches. By the way, I notice that many of their matches played in conditions that also suit Giron’s game have been fiercely contested. Anyway, we know this: low-bouncing indoor courts are perfect for him. He disappointed us at the end of the 2025 season in those conditions, but now he’s having a great start to the season. So their current form might be a bit different, even if I think that if Fritz is playing, it’s because he’s feeling good, since for him the most important tournament is Indian Wells in a month. And yes, I’m mainly looking at form here because the two players know each other inside out, and we know the match-up by heart. I’ll quote Fritz after their last match in Eastbourne: “Anytime you play someone you know as well as him, it levels things out and creates very tight matches. We know each other so well. I’ve practiced and probably spent more time on court with Giron than with any other player on tour.” QED?
