Coria AND Berrettini coming back from injury, gotta play guessing games here...

I’m not going to dwell too much on this analysis because it’s a round 1 in the dark and that’s exactly what we want to avoid. Berrettini seems a bit more “ready” since he was already supposed to come back in Australia; I suspect a good preparation but then a setback. Coria, let’s say, offers fewer guarantees: he had elbow surgery several months ago and wasn’t supposed to play again before this tournament, so yeah.

If we take both players at 100%, Berrettini is clearly the better one. He actually leads 3–0 in the head-to-head, and those are all matches on clay, which is Coria’s best surface. He hasn’t dropped a single set and the scorelines were really one-sided; it looks like the Argentinian’s defensive game just doesn’t work against him. Coria has already pulled off a few little miracles during the Golden Swing, but here it still looks extremely difficult to me.
