And now?
Two good opening rounds that were hard-fought but solid for each of the protagonists, but now, the level is going up again.
And yes, each of them won their match in the deciding set, and yet I see a lot more positive than negative in that. Why? Because both managed to keep their cool and apply the right strategy all the way through to win, despite very dangerous opponents. And now? It’s 4–2 for Kecma in their head-to-head, but 2 of Kecma’s wins are very old, and 2 came in Grand Slams, where he performs best. Nevertheless, I still see odds of 1.25 for Paul, which are far too low to represent the true probabilities of this match, or at least the implied probabilities for overs and handicaps. As I told you, I thought both players were very good. I believe Kecma is in a mental state where he’s less likely to choke, and Paul has tennis to make up for this season, and he was very strong mentally against Brooksby. Of course, I think Kecma’s game will bother Paul less than Brooksby’s did, but given the odds, I really think there’s something worth taking on the Serbian side. Why? Because when he’s on, he can really play like steel.
