Big new fight coming up

We’ve got some very tightly contested matches in Buenos Aires, and this one will probably be the same

Etcheverry got dragged into a marathon match against an excellent Burruchaga. The Argentinian wasn’t the better player for a good part of the match, but as often, his mental strength allowed him to stay in it until he came out on top. 3h40 on court, physically it was long and tough, but there’s a rest day and we’re talking about an Argentinian, so I don’t really see any particular reason to worry, except that he once again took an MTO to get some pills. Hard to know the real reason, but if the guy was truly sick, he wouldn’t have lasted that long on court. I’m assuming he’s fine.

Tabilo also fought hard against Fonseca and this time he really deserved his win; he barely dropped his intensity throughout the match while the Brazilian gave a bit more away. He’s confirming the good impression from his first round and the recent Challenger; we’ve got a Tabilo in “comeback mode,” focused and serious in what he does on court. The atmosphere was insane and he handled it the right way; it’ll be way less of a factor against Etche. In terms of match-up it’s completely different this time, Etche will give away far fewer free points. Tabilo will have to press a bit more from the baseline and be less passive, and he knows how to do that. His serve will be crucial: with high quality and some free points he can really do something here, but if they end up grinding from the back too often on every point, then I see him losing.
