Wires to get the machine going?

Quite a bit of uncertainty in this match

Arthur Fils has been continuing his rise in form for several weeks now. After a good tournament at the ATP Montpellier, the Frenchman backed it up with an encouraging performance against Alex De Minaur in Rotterdam.

Although he ended up dropping off a bit in the second set, the resistance he offered, the intensity he put in, and the quality of his ball striking all remain very positive. The indicators are clearly green on the French side, both physically and in terms of attitude and confidence.

On the other side of the net, Kamil Majchrzak is making his return to competition after the Australian Open, a tournament he finished in diminished physical condition. It’s hard to know exactly where he stands physically today, even if the injury didn’t seem extremely serious. This lack of recent benchmarks makes his true level quite difficult to assess in this context.

In terms of play, the Pole is still a dangerous player. Able to hold rallies well, technically clean and relatively strong mentally, he can cause problems if he quickly finds his rhythm.

Nevertheless, in theory, he remains quite clearly below Fils, particularly in terms of power, shot penetration, and his ability to turn rallies in his favor.

This match, however, suffers from a lack of precision in assessing the forces at play. Fils is clearly on a positive trajectory, but without yet having delivered a fully convincing reference performance. Majchrzak, for his part, is coming back without any real guarantees, which makes the overall read a bit unclear.
