Tsitsipas set for a trouble-free start
A very favorable first round for the Greek in Doha
Stefanos Tsitsipas clearly seems to be doing better in recent weeks. His tournament in ATP Rotterdam brought encouraging signs, both in terms of his level of play and his attitude. Above all, he no longer seems to be truly bothered by the recurring back problems that have slowed his progress in recent months. His movement is more fluid, his physical commitment more consistent, and his offensive game is gradually regaining continuity.
In Doha, the Greek benefits from a very manageable draw for his opening match. The context is ideal for continuing to build confidence, without excessive pressure, against an opponent well within his reach.
On the other side of the net, Echargui presents a very different profile. With a rather slight build, he is likely to suffer both physically and tactically. His game will naturally give Tsitsipas time to organize himself, take control of the rallies and set up his attacking tennis, especially with his forehand and his ability to dictate play from the very first strokes. On paper as well as on the court, it is difficult to identify any real weapons Echargui might have to disrupt the Greek or prevent him from rolling.
The expected scenario is therefore quite clear. Tsitsipas should quickly take control of proceedings, impose his rhythm and handle this match without needing to push himself too much. The gap in level, power and experience seems too great to consider anything other than a straightforward victory.
