Corentin, where are you?
It’s possible that our national Moutet won’t show up with his best level today, and here’s why.
An injury he's been carrying since the start of the season, and his coaching change from Hugo Guerreiro, with whom so many great things happened. Knowing a bit the sensitive character that Corentin is, that’s not without consequences in my view. I even wonder if his injury isn’t the physical expression of this separation. I’m going to be very, very attentive to the Frenchman’s level, but right now, pre‑match, I don’t imagine a high level. On the other side, Tommy Paul is not at his best either, but there’s ‘not at his best’ and ‘not at his best.’ The American is still playing a very decent level of tennis. What’s more, he has a very complete and aggressive playing style which, to me, is perfect for facing Moutet. On home soil in the US and with the desire to get back to an excellent level, I see only one possible outcome here.
