Best friends
There was a time when they hated each other, but they’ve made up since then and that’s just how it should be!
Plenty of matches to sink our teeth into between these two players, each endearing in their own way. They’ve been far from their best level for months now, but you can’t really say Medvedev is as far off as Tsitsipas.
The Greek is struggling even more and his physical condition often lets him down as well, although this season he does seem able to play more regularly and he’s showing some good stuff on court! It’s not perfect at all, far from it, but he’s on the right track and we know this kind of conditions suits him pretty well too. I’m expecting a good Stefanos tomorrow.
I’m not expecting anything from Daniil; he does anything and everything just when you start to think he’s getting better, and then as if by magic he plays a perfect first-round match without giving away a single point. You think he’s going to be really hard to beat in this tournament, but I’m convinced that tomorrow he could just throw it away for no reason, so I’m very wary of him.
