Congrats on your victory, Royer

The Frenchman won the first match of his season in the first round and he’s facing Alcaraz tomorrow—well, at least there was a win!

I'm really not convinced that Royer can do anything, but at the same time Rinderknech came very close to taking a set off Alcaraz with a hard-hitting, forward-moving game, and that’s something Royer knows how to do. The Frenchman likes coming to the net and taking his chances, and Rinderknech showed him the path to follow to potentially snatch a set.

It wasn’t even a bad Alcaraz, he was actually pretty good, the Spaniard, but on the other side we had Arthur in prime mode who once again played his match against a top player. He served well, attacked well and took his chances, everything you need to do to give yourself a shot against Carlito. The level was insane and I’m not convinced Royer can do the same; I see him getting outplayed everywhere and he serves worse than Rinderknech on top of that, so yeah, this feels like a beatdown, no?
