Big test for Arthur!
A still mixed dynamic for the Frenchman against a Czech player in full control
Fils is clearly confirming his rise in form since coming back from injury. In Doha, he put together two solid wins in matches where he was the favorite, showing good intentions and an ability to take control of the game. The signs are broadly positive, but everything isn’t quite in place yet. The Frenchman is still making a lot of unforced errors, especially when he tries to speed up the pace too quickly, and even if the progress is obvious, he still seems a notch below his best level, both in terms of consistency and in how he manages the tougher phases of a match.
On the other side of the net, Jiri Lehecka seems much further along in his “return to form.” After a start to the season disrupted by injury, the Czech appears to have fully rediscovered his feel for the game. The playing conditions in Doha suit him perfectly, allowing him to lean on his solidity from the baseline, his clean timing, and his ability to accelerate without losing his structure. The level he has shown since the start of the tournament is highly convincing, with a real sense of control in the rallies.
In this specific context, Lehecka seems to offer more guarantees. More stable, cleaner in his game, and more consistent over the course of a full match, he appears a fairly clear favorite against a Fils who is still in a building phase. While the Frenchman is capable of sudden flashes of brilliance, the Czech’s consistency and solidity should logically make the difference over the longer run.
