The brother is taking over!
JM Cerundolo is still in the tournament while his brother Fran' has withdrawn, what if he were the one to take the title this week?
JM Cerundolo is getting more and more complete, that’s a fact. His serve is a bit better, he’s gained some punch and he’s also creating a bit more in the rallies. He’s playing better than before but he’s still very nervous like his brother and above all he has his limits. This week he took out Darderi, who couldn’t follow up after Buenos, then he played a weird match against Hanfmann. He was way ahead and managed to scare himself, but the level on the other side of the net was really poor… I need to see more.
And logically we should see that tonight against Kopriva, given how good the Czech is. His game is so enjoyable to watch, he handles and dictates play perfectly. His flat backhand is his number one weapon and it’s a big asset against a lefty. I like the angles he finds and his net game too, he’s a very intelligent player. He’s leading 2–0 against Cerundolo by the way, but as I said the Argentinian is coming in with new weapons this time, he’ll be even harder to beat.
It’s an interesting match that will be tactical, we’ve got the best versions of both players, and even if JM Cerundolo is horrible to face I have to say I can hardly see Kopriva losing given his current level…
