As usual, Mr. Tabilo?

Tabilo’s special move is crashing out in the first round right after a title/a final, he’s an expert in the field!

Historically Tabilo has never been good at backing things up, and here we have an even more extreme case than usual! He played two matches on Sunday, including a final of more than three hours that he lost after leading for a long time. He clearly collapsed physically and even seemed to have a back issue. Etcheverry withdrew from this tournament, he took his title and wants to rest, but Tabilo seems kind of forced to play since it’s at home after all... I honestly don’t really see what’s going in his favour; mentally he’s not a strong guy to begin with and he’s coming off a cruel final that he lost. Physically it’s the same thing, he’s often a bit flimsy and now he has to grind like a pig with a possible back injury, nothing’s going right! Maybe the draw at least? Not even!

Against a foreign player he could have benefited from huge crowd support that might have made his opponent lose it, but he’s playing another local guy, poor thing, so it’ll be even. I don’t know why but Barrios Vera leads 4–1 in the head-to-head against him too, I wouldn’t know how to explain it and the matches were a while ago, but really I feel like nothing is going his way. You might say yes, the faster conditions can help him, which is true, but to maximise recovery time he’s scheduled in the last slot so we’ll actually have the slowest conditions... In this case I’m being pretty blunt in my analysis, but that’s because I really don’t believe in a win for him, and if it happens it would be a real surprise, not a logical victory in my opinion. I’ll add that Barrios played really well against Berrettini in Rio and deserved his set, he’s not coming in with nothing...
