Very lucky losers
Hijikata en lucky loser ici, Bellucci en loser tout court. Ca promet !
Fairly complicated match to dissect in my opinion, between two guys who are hard to read and who have a similar average level. Both are good aggressive baseliners with a slight lack of power and a serve you could describe as decent. The Australian will be able to fully play the lucky loser card, since he was leading 5–2 in the second set of his qualifying match against Wu. As for Bellucci, his matches have been mixed. He’s the one who gives me the least guarantees. He manages to play well in what looks more like bursts of pride than a genuinely recovered tennis level. His left-handed touch and his aggressiveness will be slightly less of a weapon against a guy with a solid backhand and great movement. Still, when he’s in top form, Bellucci is the better player (his max level is higher for me). But I’d be quite surprised to see him reach that level today.
