Better from Tiafoe

The American is showing strong ambition heading into the two Masters 1000, but his odds are low. What should we do?

Frances Tiafoe took advantage of Borges’ inaccuracies to win 2 sets to 0. He delivered a very good performance against Delray Beach and had even served for the match, showing a very solid level against Tien. He was often the better player for most of the match. He’s just slightly lacking in sharpness. However, his aggressiveness and the slow pace of the Mexican conditions allow him to fully develop his game. Thus, Tiafoe is logically the favorite. Kovacevic, however, remains dangerous, often forcing his opponents to question themselves. I see Tiafoe winning this match often, but there may be interesting intermediate bets. This opinion is reinforced by their previous encounters, which have often been decided in tight sets. Kovacevic, although I prefer him on fast indoor courts, is always a threat because of his unpredictability within matches and tournaments. He is hard to read. I’m therefore relying more on Tiafoe’s current level which, although not yet at its peak, remains quite high. The hypothesis that his motivation will return before the tournaments in Indian Wells and Miami is promising. I predict a win for Tiafoe, but the match won’t be one-sided.
