One last little bit of hope for Agut?

The Spaniard is seriously losing momentum, but he’s facing a player he leads in the H2H against, so maybe!

Over 5 matches this season, Agut has lost 4 and the only one he won was by saving a match point. So you could say he’s really struggling this season, BUT he still rarely plays outright bad matches. Take his last defeat against Norrie as an example, where he played a great first set that he probably deserved to win before collapsing physically afterwards. That’s where his age shows a bit more in my opinion: he’s less resilient over the long haul and unfortunately for him, his game relies a lot on that. The other problem is his lack of power; he can’t make up for his physical shortcomings with bigger hitting, so he ends up getting trapped in his matches. So maybe against Marozsan, against whom he leads 2–1 in the H2H, he can find enough spark to get through?

I’m torn, not to say pessimistic, first because Agut doesn’t really make me want to believe in him for all the reasons I mentioned above, but also because Marozsan is playing really, really well this year. The Hungarian is playing great matches and only losing to genuinely strong players without having anything to be ashamed of; he’s reduced the number of bad matches so far. We also like slow conditions for him, he’s great at generating pace and keeps an exceptional level of touch on drop shots. I like his form, I like the conditions, and despite a negative H2H I like the match-up against Agut. He can rush him without getting pushed back too much, and he has the amount of time he likes to set up his game.
