Nava new version?

The American has never made it past the qualifiers in this tournament, but he’s coming in this year with real strengths and can legitimately dream of a victory.

Nava is still the same player we know, capable of anything, but he’s made some small improvements in consistency. Last year he crushed the Challengers (even on clay) and really worked on becoming a more complete player. I do find him better than before but still unstable; he proved it during the Golden Swing with very different performances from one match to the next. His most recent tournament: Santiago, where he crushed Berrettini and Vallejo before completely losing the plot against Cerundolo… A shame, but it’s very much who he is: capable of the best as well as the worst. He’s coming in with pretty decent form and a real desire to perform in this tournament; if his level is high, he can win it and the match would depend on him.

To talk a bit about Borges, he’s actually a pretty consistent guy; his average level of play is stable and sometimes he makes a few breakthroughs. His start to the year is very disappointing though, and he doesn’t seem particularly ready to perform right now. He’s currently on a run of 5 losses in a row, he needs to wake up. His record in this tournament isn’t very good, but the slow conditions could work in his favor; he can show himself to be more solid and stable than Nava from the baseline. As I said, in my opinion the match doesn’t depend too much on him but mainly on Nava; when the American finds his tennis, he’s formidable.
