Is confidence way too important?

Royer is lacking confidence with only one win this year while Bonzi is farming Challengers

No need to get too excited, though. Bonzi has only won against weaker players, and he's consistently the bookmaker's favorite when he wins (it was a close call against Pinnington). It's good to arrive with wins and rhythm, but you also have to be sure the level is there, and I'm not convinced he is. I've hardly seen him this year, mainly because of that. He came through qualifying, but again, against two guys I rate lower than him. I need a strong performance to fully trust him. Then you'll tell me that he's just Royer and that there's a chance, and indeed there is! Royer has only won one match this year, and that's it. You can give him a few very encouraging losses, but in the end, he often loses; the level of play isn't too bad. I like his conquering attitude though, he continues to have the desire to win and motivates himself as needed to get out of this bad patch.

We have two very offensive players who like to come to the net, giving the advantage of a serve and a short rallies to whoever attacks first. Personally, I've always had a bit of a problem with Bonzi, whom I often find mediocre. I'm waiting to hear arguments in his favor, but I'll probably be on Team Royer.
