Bouzas dominated the first set yesterday against Haddad thanks to constant aggression (6-1). After conceding the second set in a tie-break in a mental battle, she managed to stay clear-headed and suffocate the Brazilian in the final set (6-1), finishing with some pretty ruthless efficiency on her break points. It’s still a scrappy match where we can see Jessica’s limitations on hard courts. Contrary to what some recent results might have suggested, she arrived in Indian Wells with a lot of rhythm. Her baseline game, very focused on court coverage and returning, is perfectly suited to the conditions in California this year.

It’s a duel between the defensive tenacity of the Spaniard and the hitting power of the Czech. Noskova has significantly greater firepower, which allows her to dictate the rallies.
