Not a bad draw for Bonzi, Cerundolo isn’t the seed you absolutely want to avoid.

Despite a title in Buenos Aires and a semi-final in Santiago, I’ve got mixed feelings about Cerundolo. In Buenos Aires it was really perfect from start to finish, but after that it really wasn’t good at all. He skipped Rio because of the tight schedule and a shoulder “injury” before making the semi in Santiago, but you also have to look at how his tournament actually went. A win gifted by Moller, then Nava who completely fell apart, the only one who really played well was Hanfmann and he beat him. Apparently Cerundolo was sick but I don’t know, it really cooled me off. He’s defending a quarter-final here, maybe a bit of tension before starting the tournament and, as I said, he’s had two weird tournaments so he doesn’t really have a huge rhythm in the end. I’m expecting a bit of a sluggish start and far from perfect.

Pretty much the complete opposite for Bonzi normally: the Frenchman is coming out of qualies and arrives with 3 wins under his belt. No real big performance again, but he’s winning his matches and building confidence, the perfect moment to finally put in a big performance, right? I hope so. It’s a bit hard to actually get hyped by his tennis, but he has already delivered some big matches and this time I kind of believe in him, let’s say. With his tennis that can push forward and his net game, he can put Cerundolo in an uncomfortable position. The Argentine is still a huge favorite in this matchup of course, but do you see a clean, straightforward win? I don’t!
