On the way to a 5th victory for the Ukrainian!
The head-to-head record is indisputable: Elina Svitolina leads 4–0 in their direct encounters. Notably, Kateřina Siniaková has managed to win a set in each of their four meetings, showing that she consistently manages to trouble the Ukrainian without ever managing to finish the job. Their most recent clash dates back to the 2024 edition of Indian Wells, where Elina prevailed at the end of a three-set battle (6–3, 2–6, 6–1).
In terms of physical freshness, the momentum leans slightly in favor of Svitolina. Although the Ukrainian had to fight through three sets against Siegemund in her opening match, she was ruthless in the previous round against Krueger. Conversely, Siniaková has spent much more time on court since the start of the tournament, stringing together three consecutive three-set wins against tough opponents. This accumulation of hours on court could weigh heavily in the key moments against a top-10 player who excels precisely at wearing down her opponents.
Siniaková is still an XXL counterpuncher but struggles with the grind of back-to-back singles matches. Svitolina will do everything she can to limit her time on court in order to approach a high-stakes quarterfinal to come!
