Which version of Fearnley?

Not easy to follow this guy!

One day he hits 12 double faults, the next tournament he’s playing like steel… Then in Phoenix he loses to Cazaux, who’s just coming back from injury, racking up 38 unforced errors and with his odds moving weirdly at the very end of the market. Feels like the guy clearly picks and chooses his tournaments! So in a Masters 1000, I expect him to be motivated and good. We’ll see if he proves me right.

Martin Damm is a pure left-handed serve-and-volleyer. He became a bit better known to the French public thanks to his semi-final in Montpellier this year, indoors. The conditions in Miami are good for him: at home, fast conditions with a low bounce. Even though he’s playing more consistently this season, for me he’s still a player who pulls off “big runs” here and there. Like any profile of that kind, you have to feel when he’s comfortable in his shoes.

If Fearnley plays well, he has every chance to beat the American because he’s an excellent counter-puncher who knows how to hold his position on the baseline (and therefore cut off Damm’s lefty trajectories), and he has no weaknesses on the backhand side. A lot depends on him here in my opinion. On the other hand, if he’s having an off day, Damm’s game and motivation become extremely dangerous. So for me, this is a great live betting spot, because, as in Indian Wells against Dzumhur, you can generally see very quickly if Fearnley is in form and motivated.
