Hard to follow

Jodar is talented, that’s for sure, but like all young prospects he lacks consistency, and that’s normal!

He alternates between monstrous matches and completely awful ones, for now you have to take it with a grain of salt or just have a feel for it! I saw part of his two qualifying matches and the first one was bad with a ton of unforced errors, then the second one against Bonzi was really good. He’s got fire in his arm and a big attitude, he can already hit huge shots when he’s feeling the ball well, it just needs to go in because he doesn’t have a plan B yet or know how to win while playing badly. Anyway, he comes through qualies and then faces another qualifier, not bad.

And the other qualifier is Hanfmann, I saw him against Van Assche and I’m a bit on the fence, he’s playing good tennis right now and you can feel he’s confident after his good golden swing, but for how long? Because he’s also a proper lazy guy on court, at the slightest missed approach shot he’ll almost give up on the point, and he’s not great in defense with his build. When I look at his recent matches I get the feeling he’s facing opponents whose profiles suit him, guys he can attack because he controls the rallies most of the time. Against Jodar it’s a completely different match-up waiting for him and I don’t really like that. We’re going from solid matches on clay at altitude to two qualifying wins against players whose style is different from Jodar’s, I don’t want to overrate him either.
