Fucso is flexing his muscles

Another “easy” win for Fucsovics over O'Connell, the score wasn’t a blowout but he was clearly way above, just like in their match at Indian Wells. I said in my analysis that we needed to keep an eye on Fucso’s serve/forehand to see what he was going to do this week and he’s just played a top match. 11 aces, a perfect forehand and good follow-ups at the net, the perfect match to launch his tournament. Yes, it was only against O'Connell but it’s the level that matters, and last week was already very good too. His aggressive game works well in Miami and now he’s facing an FAA he loves to mess with!

3–2 for Felix in the H2H with absolutely nothing but bangers! Fucsovics almost always takes his set and pushes it to a tie-break. The matches go back a bit but there’s indoor and hard courts, so it still gives a bit of an indication. I like aggressive guys against FAA: if you let him dictate with his forehand it’s over, and we can count on Fucso to do that. Now he’ll need a higher level to pull it off again since we’ve got a very serious and disciplined Felix this year. The Canadian hardly ever slips up anymore; it just wasn’t great at Indian Wells though. His track record in Miami isn’t amazing despite the 2019 semi-final. It’s true the conditions aren’t ideal for his game; there are better fits at other tournaments.

I don’t necessarily want to lay Felix but I feel like backing Fucso who’s coming back really, really strong. Without going too heavy on it, if we get some interesting lines I’ll go for it!
