Clutch + clutch
I put these two players down as guys who can win games by a hair’s breadth, with a mindset that’s always top-notch
Diallo got lost at the start of the season, not a single good match and narrow defeats without showing the slightest hint of gaining momentum. He found his clutch factor again in Indian Wells last week, but without being convincing though. He beat Bellucci then Rublev and even took a set off FAA, but he still wasn’t the best player on court. He pulled the same trick against Wu yesterday, saved 7/7 break points and won the tie-break without putting in a great performance once again. It’s a bit hard to really gauge him, I hate this kind of situation because he’s not playing great tennis but he makes up for it with huge efficiency and a perfect attitude.
Enough to pull it off again against Humbert? Maybe… I don’t really like what the Frenchman has been showing lately. He doesn’t have any terrible losses, but he’s missing that little something that makes you think it’ll take something huge to beat him. Right now I feel like he can be taken down if the guy on the other side is solid, and his track record in Miami isn’t very good either, I don’t know why. His odds look high at first glance, but at the same time given what he’s shown in recent weeks, I don’t see his win as a given, especially against a guy who clutches everything.
The match should be tight, Diallo serves very well and Ugo does too. If we feel the Frenchman is fired up and ultra motivated, then yes, it’s a great opportunity, but I’ll need to see it first.
