A bit tricky because the Argentine is usually very good in Miami (tournament where he broke through + conditions are very good for him), and at the same time, right now things aren’t really clicking. And it’s not this slightly messy first round that’s going to make me say we’re seeing prime Cerundolo.

On Daniil’s side, we already have more certainties given his level in Indian Wells. But in this match-up, honestly, I struggle to see Cerundolo winning. He’ll certainly raise his level of play but still, he’s kind of known for having lapses and sometimes overdoing it a bit on the forehand. That same shot has helped him punch through plenty of walls, but I still tend to think that when too many balls keep coming back, he’ll crack. He actually loses twice here to Khachanov, another Russian metronome. So we’ll see depending on the odds, but I don’t have much hope...
