A little treat to finish off
Tiafoe's beautiful adventure should come to an end tomorrow against the ogre Sinner
An ogre who wobbled yesterday for a large part of the match, he ran into a Michelsen in totally insane free-swinging mode and at an exceptional level for almost the whole encounter. The American had nothing to lose and played his best tennis, it’s easier when there’s not much at stake. He led 5–2 in the second set but Sinner raised his level just enough to get the win without dropping a set; 15 aces again yesterday for Jannik, who has taken a step forward on serve and can now get himself out of tricky matches thanks to that weapon. A weapon that’s going to hurt Tiafoe, on top of playing with an intensity and rhythm that will logically be too high for Big Foe.
He deserves to play a good match and go out the front door because he’s been working hard this year to get back to the top level. He’s already given a lot in this tournament, but against Atmane he said it was mainly mentally that he was a bit tired after his battle the day before against Mensik, that physically he was okay. So with a day of rest and a showdown against Sinner, I think we can get a super motivated Tiafoe who can hold strong for an hour and a half? Nothing to lose and the level is there, I think he too can play a great match if he’s relaxed, but it’s hard to picture him taking a set or getting the win...
