I feel like I’ve analyzed this match 10 times and every time Zverev puts us in the same situation

The situation is that Z is coming off a monumental match before facing Sinner, he steamrolled a rather uninspired Cerundolo but above all there was a big win for the German, who finally produced that famous aggressive game he’s always talking about. Yesterday was honestly great: he puts pressure on, he doesn’t just wait passively from the baseline anymore, he’s finally doing what we expect from him and when everything goes in, it’s simply exceptional. So yes, but I’m not going to fall into the same trap as last week because it’s EXACTLY the same situation. Before facing Sinner he steamrolled Fils playing that same aggressive style and giving that impression of domination that made you think he could rival Sinner, result? A 6–2 6–4 loss, right… The truth is that Zverev is playing extremely well but once he’s up against Sinner it’s hard for him to get out of it no matter the game plan, because the level on the other side is so high. So yes, we’ve got a good Zverev again this week but we should be careful not to take another spanking, even if I think that in Miami the speed of the courts works in his favor and helps his serve (he served really poorly against Sinner at IW, actually).

On Sinner’s side, nothing to say: he’s continuing his great winning streak without dropping a set. I wasn’t impressed by his early rounds but against Tiafoe he reminded everyone who’s boss. This match depends on him once again, but I’ve seen a few matches recently where he loses his way a bit on return and has to go through 7–5 or 7–6, and I think once again that Zverev, on a good day, is capable of standing up to him.
