Tough match-up for our Frenchie!
Carole is a strong‑willed player, born on December 1st, 2001 in Ukraine but now a naturalized French citizen. Her path is that of a fighter: when she turned 18, she chose to fully self-fund her career, refusing help from her parents to prove she could make it on her own. On court, Carole plays a counterpunching game built on fairly impressive court coverage, anchored on her baseline. She is very close to Ukrainian player Daria Snigur, with whom she often shares training sessions. Tricky start to the season. She is still looking for her rhythm on clay after a mixed tour in Turkey. However, she did show improvement in Florianópolis at the end of 2025 with a run to the final in a WTA 125 event on clay.
Katarzyna, or Kasia to her friends, is a true institution in Bogota. The 33‑year‑old Pole is a clay‑court specialist with a classical style, equipped with a very solid two‑handed backhand. A die‑hard Justine Henin fan, she draws inspiration from Henin’s game sense to make up for her lack of power with variations and superior tactical intelligence. She lives and trains in Poznań. A real nightmare to face on clay. A match is truly never over with her; I’ve rarely seen such resilience on a court, especially on her favorite surface!
Very solid. She reached the final right here last year after an incredible run, with marathon matches where I kept telling myself: there’s no way she can last one more match! I clearly didn’t know her well enough! She comes in with confidence boosted by her recent wins in Antalya, where she notably dominated… Carole Monnet with a pretty straightforward 2–0.
