Shit...
Alright guys, this match is pure poison for tennis bettors!
20 matches in total today between Munich and BCN, I recommend skipping it.
But here’s my take anyway: absolutely anything can happen in this match.
I saw both of them in Monte Carlo, and it wasn’t pretty. Shapo, true to himself, is hitting rockets with no real strategy. Tallon, on the other hand, keeps heading toward a less and less solid game, with plenty of lapses against Monfils.
And at the same time, I kind of want to think that if they get their act together, they can bring a really good level even on clay. So it’s tricky… Tallon admitted he played a really shitty match and seemed really affected by it, even if he was smiling during his match against Gael. He’s really brooding, and says he’s looking for his new balance following his new setup with his coach and his racket change. I mostly think he’s struggling to handle so much tennis and that he’s still overloaded. I’m expecting a reaction from him, but I’m quite pessimistic about the clay season because I think the changes need to be deeper.
As for Shapo, he’s so random outside indoor conditions. We’re on altitude clay, with the clay made heavier by the cold and the rain that will probably mix in with today’s matches as well. If there are interruptions on top of that, who knows how those two lunatics are going to react lol.
My own hypothesis is that Tallon will try to be more solid and clutch in this match that’s pretty focused on service games. I’d make him a slight favorite because I’m expecting a mini reaction from him, whereas Shapo seems headed for a pretty standard clay season.
