Underlying problem..

ADM isn’t himself, he’s lacking confidence and is simply playing badly. He’s looking for solutions but for the moment nothing is working.

Really not a good match from ADM against Ofner today, once again a super low first-serve percentage and a nervousness in the important moments that could have cost him dearly! Only one break point to get his teeth into and yet it wasn’t exactly a red-hot Ofner either, no, it’s mostly ADM who seems to be in a confidence slump, that was already the case in Monte Carlo, but there you could at least understand him feeling the pressure against the local Vacherot, whereas here that’s not the case. He tried to be more aggressive but it wasn’t good, I’m quite worried. He’s still capable of winning while playing badly, but his margin is shrinking considerably.

Big danger tomorrow then against Medjedovic, the Serb is on a pretty crazy run, he won a Challenger title and came through qualifying, he’s won 8 of his last 9 matches. His only loss? In the first round in Marrakech after his title in Naples, where he was clearly tired, it’s some seriously good Hamad at the moment! He had a bit of trouble getting going against Trungelliti but once he settled into the match he was strong, he plays really well on clay, that rascal. He’s already taken a set off ADM at the start of the year before collapsing physically, that’s the big dark cloud over this matchup: if ADM manages to drag it into a long battle, then it’s almost certain he can pick Medjedovic off physically.

The momentum is clearly on the Serbian’s side, with his quality of serve and ADM’s inconsistency at the moment, there’s definitely an opportunity to take a shot on the outsider.
