Obvious?
The Australian Walton has played 11 official matches on the main and Challenger tours on clay over the 11 years he’s been a professional player, which isn’t a lot.
In recent years, he has been forced to play Roland-Garros and although in a few matches he has held his own reasonably well, his number of wins on clay remains very slim. After being beaten by Burruchaga in Houston in his first and only clay-court match this year, he comes back onto the surface once again without many reference points, with altitude conditions that favor his attacking game. He could opt for a short-point strategy, using his Australian-style serve-and-volley skills to avoid playing long points or rallies. However, his opponent is powerful, aggressive, and hard to neutralize. On top of that, he’s a Spaniard motivated to play in front of his home crowd, his friends, his family. He recently lost a match in Barcelona against Musetti because the match-up didn’t suit him, but his average level was still there, which makes him the clear favorite here. Despite this, I don’t find his odds at 1.27 appealing and I think it’s wise to avoid any bets on this match.
