An interesting US duel

This all-American duel is the hardest match of the day to read. On one side, Ashlyn Krueger, 21, a big server who’s been working on patience and consistency since the fall with her new coach Hugo Armando—a player who's starting to have the tools to compete at this level, but whose consistency remains the weak point. On the other, Sofia Kenin, 2020 Australian Open champion, Roland Garros finalist the same year, a player who’s experienced it all at the top and who’s been going through a slump for several seasons now, with no way out. Two wins in eleven matches in 2026, zero tiebreaks won this season, and a confidence that vanished just as mysteriously as it was built.

On clay, the 52-week metrics structurally put Kenin ahead; she holds serve better on this surface and wins the key moments more often.
